The SMARTLCMS process:

  • Automated LC/MS analysis using your method
  • Automated results evaluation, report printing, and sample logging (customization available upon request)
  • Real-time sample plate viewer with updated results in the instrument GRAPH view, including sample status based on results (red, green, yellow)
  • Samples assigned red, yellow, or green status based on user-selectable intensity of target mass and co-elution with LC/UV peak. (See an example of the SmartLCMS Browser here).
  • Automatic re-analysis of samples showing red (and optionally yellow) status in a different mode
  • Re-analyzed samples are automatically run following the hierarchy: +ESI, -ESI, +APCI, -APCI (The mode hierarchy can be customized upon request. Switching from ESI to APCI requires a manual source change. A sample list is created which can be queued after source changeover.)

What is included:

  • Instrument Control Language (ICL) scripts and UNIX scripts that allow for SMARTLCMS analysis and reporting
  • On-site installation and training
  • Customized to work with your equipment if necessary
  • Unlimited e-mail/phone technical support for 1 year

System requirements:

  • Finnigan SSQ or TSQ 700/7000 series with API source
  • DEC Alpha UNIX workstation (the faster the better)
  • Final release of Finnigan ICL and ICIS-II software (version 8.3 with Digital UNIX 4.0E).
  • Any HPLC/UV either under direct control or controllable through contact closure
  • Pre-configured to work with Leap/CTC PAL autosampler (any autosampler under direct Finnigan instrument control should work, but has not been tested)

Other options:

  • We would be happy to customize the SMARTLCMS system to meet your needs. Infinite possibilities exist. For example:
    • automatic re-analysis of samples in MS/MS mode that showed potential metabolites or degradation pathways
  • If you are interested in only automated printing of results without sample re-analysis, this option is available.
  • We can offer a "source code only" option if you are proficient at ICL and UNIX C-shell programming and want to attempt installation on your system. However, this option is sold "as is" with only the documentation in the source code and is not recommended for most users.
