Installing ProMass for Xcalibur 

Note: You must be logged onto Windows NT/2000/XP with administrator privileges in order to successfully install or uninstall ProMass. Also, Xcalibur must be installed on the target machine or ProMass will not run.

Before beginning the installation procedure, review the system requirements.

To install ProMass, do the following:

1. Insert the CD-ROM into your CD-ROM drive.
2. Locate and double click on the setup.exe file.
3. Follow the onscreen instructions to complete the installation

If you are installing on Windows NT, the installer may require you to reboot your system before ProMass can be installed. You will be prompted if this is the case.

Obtaining a Software License

If you are installing for the first time, you will need to obtain a validated software license after installation. You need to install the software before you can obtain a license.

To obtain a validated software license, do the following:

1. Launch ProMass to obtain the license validation screen shown below:

   

2. Use the Copy button to the right of the Installation Key box to copy the installation key to the clipboard.  Open your email program and create a new blank email message. Paste (Ctrl-V or right mouse click | Paste) the license key into your email program, and type your name, address, affiliation, and phone number. Send the email to promass-license@thermo.com.
3. Our partners at Novatia (www.enovatia.com) will verify your purchase of the product with Thermo Electron, and will email you a validated license key. Copy the validated license key from the email (Ctrl-C) and paste (Ctrl-V) it into the appropriate text box in the Software Key information box:If you are installing the demo, paste the validated license key in the Demo Key box. If you are installing the full version, paste the validated license key into the Activation Key box.
